Using Jasmine Essential Oil

True jasmine essential oil is extracted by a two step steam distillation process from the flower of the Jasminum officinale shrub. Although this essential oil is popular you will have to settle for a “cut” version as the price for 100% pure is unbelievably expense even if you do find it. Buying the “cut” form is perfectly acceptable as you will still receive all the beneficial properties. Remember part of the fun is mixing and matching your essential oils.

The scent of jasmine essential oil is very distinctive, it has a highly sought after exotic sweet fragrance which makes it very popular in the beauty products and home décor (ie. Candles and incense sticks). For this reason there are synthetic variations available on market, which are believed to be effective.

The therapeutic uses of jasmine essential oil are extremely varied. It is toted as the essential oil of fertility which has properties that affect both men and women. It is believed to be an aphrodisiac, effectively increasing the libido of both sexes. For men it is said to cure impotence, increase fertility and stop premature ejaculation. The application would be to add approximately 10 drops of jasmine essential oil to your bath water, use a few drops in a diffuser or make massage oil by adding several drops to a carrier.

Women on the other hand can use jasmine essential oil to help with menstrual cramps, increase breast milk production during lactation, to help strengthen contractions during childbirth or to alleviate post natal depression. Again the applications would include adding approximately 10 drops of jasmine essential oil to your bath water, use a few drops in a diffuser or make massage oil by adding several drops to a carrier.

Jasmine essential oil can be also be used as a mood elevator as it is very effective in promoting energy, clarity, vitality and optimism. If you are feeling anxious, depressed, stressed or generally worn down add approximately ten drops to your bath water or use five drops in a diffuser. These applications can also be used if you suffer from head aches or tension aches and pains.

Jasmine can be easily mixed with other essential oils to provide endless benefits. Whether you decide to mix it up or use it on its own you will not be disappointed.
