Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is an ancient practice which is experiencing a resurgence. It is a holistic treatment in which natural plant essences are used to promote healing, health, and wellbeing of the body, mind and spirit. It is the use of pure essential oils either on their own or infused into a product such as oils and candles.Aromatherapy is used to alleviate ailments, healing and general care and prevention. It achieves this by stimulating the olfactory nerves and the limbic system which in turn stimulate the entire central nervous system. The uses are numerous and include; pain relief, skin care, mood elevation, alleviating tension, warding off fatigue and invigorating the entire body.
The healing properties of essential oils is vast. Many have antiseptic, antiviral, anti fungal, anti inflammatory, pain relieving and natural healing properties, where as others have properties which allow them to be effective anti-depressants, expectorants, relaxants, diuretics, or stimulants. With such a wide variety of properties it is easy to see how essential oils can be so beneficial to our bodies and minds.
Aromatherapy is one of the fastest growing fields in alternative medicine however to get the maximum benefit from essential oils, you must use natural pure raw materials because synthetically made oils do not work. Experiment with essences that you find pleasing, that you enjoy, or that evoke a feeling with in you. You will know the right essential oils to use for you.
